The planned $27 million redesign of NYC’s Times Square would transform the square’s raw, concrete pedestrian plazas into sleek silver-gray spaces populated by slablike benches and metallic tiles. Among Snøhetta’s goals is to reconfigure the space in such a way that city residents will stop walking blocks out of their way to avoid it.
